Self Matters

I found my new favorite book store where I can get the best books for the cheapest price.. The D.I. I am serious. But you have to dig to find what you are looking for. I am the biggest Dr. Phil fan! So while I was there the other day I saw a few books by Dr. Phil and I found this one, it's called "Self Matters." This book was originally $20 and I got it for $3. (There were a a lot more of this one book, but like I said, you just have to dig.) I am still only on the first chapter but I absolutely love this book. It's really all about finding yourself and making yourself happy. It's very life changing. I never knew he went through all of these things. All of these emotions. He is brilliant. I highly would recommend this to anyone who needs a little inspiration in their life. This book has helped me cope and become a better person, for myself and for others. I can't wait to find out more things I can do to be where I want to be. It's exciting.

The Book Of Awakening

Rachael recommended this book to me and I am so happy she did. I am only on the second day and I love it already. This is a book where you read a page a day. It starts with January 1st so I am a few days behind but I will have no problem catching up.
January 2nd it talks about trying to open a door with things in your hands, we all do this.
"It's such a simple thing, but in a moment of ego we refuse to put down what we carry in order to open the door. Time and time again, we are offered the chance to truly learn this: We cannot hold onto things and enter. We must put down what we carry, open the door, and then take up only what we need to bring inside."
"Gather, prepare, put down, enter."

Opposites Attract

I feel like I have a full time job being a book critic. I can't help myself with the books Barbara Ann Kipfer writes. I somehow find myself a lot like her. With all her books I am in the depths of them. Reading in between the lines. Can't put them down. Even if they are just lists, they are lists I can relate to. I am in a peaceful state of mind when I read every word. I hope to own all of them, someday. I am working on that at the moment. Her books are very special to me. They are great to give as gifts. They are books I am sharing with my children when they are going through difficult times, or to just make them happy. Tonight I received my latest edition, "4,000 Questions For Getting To Know Anyone And Everyone." I love it. Of course, I've started asking D a bunch of questions. I am finding out how different we are from each other. And it's true, "opposites attract." He completes me, literally. I couldn't of found anyone better to be with. I know lots of people say this and end up in divorces, break ups.. but it's true. He completes me. I am blessed to have found him sooner rather than later. Back to the point, in this  book about every few pages or so it asks you questions, gets you to thinking. I've decided I am going to post them here and answer each one as honest as I can be. Feel free to do the same, even if you don't have the book. Copy and paste them from here. Some days I have nothing to blog about, nothing exciting about my cancer filled life. It gets old quick. There is only so much you can say.. "I go to chemotherapy every two weeks, where my doctor fills my body with red poison. I feel sick and crappy but the poison seems to kill the cancer cell so I am thankful." Answering these questions will help me reflect back in my life and remember somethings worth remembering. Here I go..

Sarah Dessen

"There is never a time or place for true love. It happens accidentally, in a heartbeat, in a single flashing, throbbing moment."
Sarah Dessen (The Truth About Forever)

"Life is an awful, ugly place to not have a best friend."

"Love is needing someone. Love is putting up with someone's bad qualities because they somehow complete you."

"Don't think or judge, just listen."

"No relationship is perfect, ever. There are always some ways you have to bend, to compromise, to give something up in order to gain something greater...The love we have for each other is bigger than these small differences. And that's the key. It's like a big pie chart, and the love in a relationship has to be the biggest piece. Love can make up for a lot."

"It's just that...I just think that some things are meant to be broken. Imperfect. Chaotic. It's the universe's way of providing contrast, you know? There have to be a few holes in the road. It's how life is."
Sarah Dessen (The Truth About Forever)

"It's a lot easier to be lost than found. It's the reason we're always searching and rarely discovered--so many locks not enough keys."

"It's all in the view. That's what I mean about forever, too. For any one of us our forever could end in an hour, or a hundred years from now. You never know for sure, so you'd better make every second count."

"You know, when it works, love is pretty amazing. It's not overrated. There's a reason for all those songs."
Sarah Dessen (This Lullaby)

"I knew, in the silence that followed, that anything could happen here. It might be too late: again, I might have missed my chance. But I would at least know I tried, that I took my heart and extended my hand, whatever the outcome. "Okay," he said. He took a breath. "What would you do, if you could do anything?" I took a step toward him, closing the space between us. "This," I said. And then I kissed him."

"You should never be surprised when someone treats you with respect, you should expect it."

"It was just one of those things," I said, "You know, that just happen. You don't think or plan. You just do it."

"Holding people away from you, and denying yourself love, that doesn't make you strong. if anything, it makes you weaker. Because you're doing it out of fear."
Sarah Dessen (This Lullaby)

"What did it feel like, I wondered, to love someone that much? So much that you couldn't even control yourself when they came close, as if you might just break free of whatever was holding you and throw yourself at them with enough force to easily overwhelm you both."

"That was the thing. You never got used to it, the idea of someone being gone. Just when you think it's reconciled, accepted, someone points it out to you, and it just hits you all over again, that shocking."
Sarah Dessen (The Truth About Forever)

"Shoulda, coulda, woulda. It's so easy in the past tense. "
Sarah Dessen (The Truth About Forever)

"What you need, what you deserve, is a guy who adores you for what you are. Who doesn't see you as a project, but a prize. you know?"

"But I'd long ago learned not to be picky in farewells. They weren't guaranteed or promised.
You were lucky, more than blessed, if you got a good-bye at all."

On a good note

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and finished The Guardian.
I thought this book was amazing. I loved it so much. One of my favorites for sure.
It touched me. I cried. I don't want to ruin it to people who haven't read it yet
but I wanted to share part of it. The part that inspired me. Gave me the chills.
Dogs are a true blessing. Their instincts. Their courage. We should
be more thankful then we are for them. They are something special.

"And like a dream, from the corner of her eye
she saw a vision cresting over the dune,
her guardian charging through the darkness."

Day 17: A book you’ve read that changed your views on something.

The Secret, was very life changing for me.
Very eye opening. I highly recommend it. It's beautiful.

Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, I got a real understanding of Danny.
I was going about things in such a harsh way. I had no idea. I recommend this
one as well if you want to know more about the opposite sex and even yourself.

This Lullaby, best book I've ever read. I read this book in high school.
I HIGHLY recommend this one as well.

I've finished A Walk to Remember, I am on to the next.. Water for Elephants. And I must say I absolutely love this book. They are making it into a movie so I wanted to read the book before it comes out. I am almost half way through. It's a little raunchy I might add but the story line is amazing (:
My next chemotherapy session is Thursday. I am not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I love going but once I start to feel good I am due for another session to put me right back where I was at the beginning, feeling not so good. Not like I have a choice or anything. It feels kinda nice getting it over with. I am excited to see everyone again. Danny was able to get off every chemo session I have so either he can take me or he can stay home and get some things done while someone else takes me. Which will be nice for him and me!
Happy Birthday Mom, Grandma, and Bailey! (: Going to Boston's for lunch. Pretty excited about it. I have been craving their food for awhile now. I need to get back into my working mode while I feel good.
