To say I am struggling..

would be an understatement.
I don't even know where to begin. 2019 has been the worst year of my life.
The main reasons are losing the ones I love the most.
I have been very fortunate for 28 years to not have to deal with any deaths.
I am not only grieving their loss, but the loss of myself.
I feel like a piece of me has gone with them.

I feel lost. numb. broken. alone. scared. out of control.
Every negative emotion you can think of, I feel it.
Daily lately.

Now I have always struggled with depression, but over the years I have learned how to shake it.
To feel it and then release myself from it. But this year, it has been different.

I have no complaints in my little families life. My girls are thriving. Danny and I are as good as we can be (it is my fault we are not, because of what I am going through.) We just bought a house in sunny Florida. No surgeries in sight. So what is the problem?

I wish I knew the answer.

Tomorrow I will be calling to set up an appointment with a therapist. I should have done this sooner. But I thought I would be able to get myself out of this rut I am in. But it is easier said than done. And I can't. And that is okay.

Love Always,
Kristin

One Month Down

I've been waiting to write this when it was "the right time" or when it got "easier" to but then I realized, this will never get any easier..
My Auntie is one of the greatest people I know. She shared with me her love for friends, relationships, animals, a good book, the ocean, cooking, picture taking, memory making, scrap booking, and a million other things that mattered. She loved to feel.
I always felt like her daughter. We look alike! We've gone through LOTS of the same things. We each have a high school sweetheart named Danny, we both had a form of Lymphoma ðŸ’šðŸ’œ we've been bald & gone through chemo around the same age. We have similarities.. We have always wanted a farm. We LOVE the ocean more than words. ðŸŒŠ Lance Bass is our favorite Nsync member. Quotes and sayings are life. Music is good for the soul. We always believed you're only as happy as you let yourself be. And only you are in charge of that happiness.
There are a few things I can no longer do without losing it completely. I can't listen to the song 'Senorita' by Shawn Mendes or 'Shallow' by Lady Gaga let alone watch the movie A Star Is Born. 'Fill Me In' by Craig David (that was our song) still stops my breath but is becoming more tolerable.
The happy things.. Charlie has your middle name and initials CJ!  The movie "Shag" brings a smile to my face. Whenever I am at the beach, I think of you. That monarch butterfly is always you ðŸ¦‹ I hope she knows how much I love her! I will forever cherish the memories I was so lucky to make with her. She will always be in my heart. And for the rest of my life I will search for moments of you.
The regrets I have are small and will leave with time.. The last picture I took on my phone was supposed to go to her but never got sent. I had the feeling to call that weekend, but forgot and didn't. I recently watched A Star Is Born, one of her favs, but never got to talk to her about it.
I think the message being, if you think of someone or miss them.. send the text, make the call, the email, the snap, the dm. Tell them. Because life is TOO short!
Please zoom in to read & please share her freaking awesome obituary she wrote. YOU'RE MY HERO! ðŸ’š

Brooke Moyes

It's been almost a year since I have posted anything on here. Although, I am sad that I haven't found the time or have found anything worth writing. That is all about to change. Danny and I are expecting our first baby July 23, 2015. Now this is something worth writing about. Let me catch you up on a few things..

October 2014; We decided we should start trying to have a baby. I have always been somewhat concerned I would not be able to get pregnant. I can thank cancer for that. We thought, might as well start trying in case it takes us a year or two.

November 2014; I had a long rough week at work. I thought a glass of wine sounded like just what I needed. First, might as well take a pregnancy test to be sure that was okay. (I had taken one a week earlier, which came back negative.) Peed on stick, positive. Scratch that glass of wine. Freak out a little! (in an awesome way) Greet husband at the door, "I'm pregnant! What should we do?!" His response, "Celebrate!!"

From that moment on we were so excited, we are going to be parents!
We were in shock of how quickly it happened. We are so happy and so thankful.

Pregnancy, lets face it, it has not been the best time of my life. I don't have the pregnancy glow. I am not one of the lucky ones that just gets a bigger belly. I have gained weight everywhere! And I mean everywhere! I have gotten so many stretch marks. I am still throwing up every morning. (I am 30 weeks pregnant!) I could go on all day of how much harder this has been than I thought it would ever be. But none of that matters because I am going to be a mom! I am so blessed that my pregnancy has been a healthy one. I have this perfect baby growing in my belly. I am so anxious to finally meet her. Have a mentioned we are having a baby girl? Her name is Brooke. Brooke (working on middle name) Moyes.

Update

Yesterday was a busy day. My parents found a car for Cass that they really liked. It's a Jeep Grand Cherokee 1996. So my dad and I drove down to Salt Lake to take a look at it in person. I loved it and he did too. So he bought it. It already had a sound system and everything. I am a little jealous. Since we were already down there, there was this rabbit hutch I wanted to look at. I ended up buying that as well. (: Since I have a backyard, I have always wanted bunnies. I okayed it with Danny. Soon there will be another addition to the fam. My dad wanted to stop at Cabela's. I was fine with it because I had never been there before. I loved it. I am going to take up a new hobby with my dad, fishing. (I will NEVER keep the fish. I ALWAYS let them go.) I used to go with him all the time when I was little and I always had fun. My dad bought me a pink fishing pole and a pink tackle box. I am  in love with them. The reel on my pole lights up purple and green. It's pretty cool. Hopefully this summer I will be going fishing with him a lot in his boat that he recently got. I am excited. I know I am a nerd (: All I need to get is my fishing license. I got to eat my favorite food last night, Chick-fil-a. Yum. I saw Kendra there with Mike and I was so happy to finally see her. I love her. I hope things work out for her. She is the sweetest person ever. I didn't get home til really late last night because I wanted to surprise Cass. I felt bad because D was home all by himself all  night. Oh well. Tonight we are celebrating my birthday with my family. I won't be feeling good on it so before is better. We are having my favorite meal, Fried chicken and gravy, mashed potatoes, asparagus, lemon salad, and instead of having a cake I wanted a chocolate fondue fountain with strawberries to dip in it. I am so excited just thinking about it. Tomorrow is my 10th chemotherapy and to be honest I am excited. I find this weird because I am usually dreading it but I think I am ready to be done and move on with my life. Yay, almost there. There is my update. I need to go grocery shopping today. I am going to keep an open mind because I usually hate grocery shopping but today is different. I will be going somewhere closer to the house to a new store and I won't have to carry the groceries up a flight of stairs. (: I probably won't be blogging for awhile due to chemo brain. But I will be back before you know it. Everyone have a great week. (:

A letter

Dear Mom & Dad,
Over the past year I have realized so much about our relationships. They weren't always the best but for the most part I've always thought highly of you guys as parents. I thought you were great. You raised me, in my eyes, perfectly. I don't think I would of changed much. I had discipline. I think that is something very important. You were never my best friend, you were my parents. I agree that every child should have a parent, not a best friend. This is something that I will take and apply it in my life when I have someday have kids. Now though, I would consider you guys my best friends. Now that I am old enough and on my own I think we have a stronger and more understanding relationship towards each other. I haven't always been perfect and there have been times when I have disappointed you but no matter what I do I know you guys will never look down on me. I love that. There is one thing that I wanted to tell you guys and that is I am worried about my sister. This is more for mom because dad has always been the disciplinary and all of a sudden he isn't. Cass needs discipline or she is never going to learn. She will never get her grades up. She needs parents not best friends. I love you both very much. Thank you for being so strong and for teaching me the things I know today. I am happy to call you both my parents.
Love Always, Your Special K

My boggled mind

Sometimes I think I need more inspiration than most people do. I'm constantly looking for inspiration in anything, a song, a letter, a comment, a conversation. Is this a bad thing? I see others living their lives to an extent that I don't think I have reached yet. I know everyone is different and that everyone is on a different page, but sometimes I wish I was on the same page as most. I am content where I'm at, but I want to be further in life.. I hate wishing my life away but I can't help it. I find it hard to live in the moment because I am too worried about my future. I need to remember that good things don't some easy, they take time.
I have the worst case of anxiety and this is something I never knew until Danny pointed it out, like a flaw. I hated it, no one wants their lover pointing out flaws you have. It took me awhile to come to the realization that yeah I do have anxiety. That is why I freak out about being on time, or I have to make sure the door is locked multiple times a day so I don't get "robbed." It's almost like I try to prevent things from happening to me. Anxiety is something I actually like about myself in some ways, not all. Some days it's so bad, I wish I could turn something off in my head and go back to sleep. I can't wait to talk to a doctor about this once I am done with chemotherapy. I might be able to take some kind of medication now but I think my body has enough medicine in it that I don't want to overwhelm it.
My mind is always running, nonstop, all day. I come up with the most amazing things in my head. This is something that I love about myself. I think this is why I am not a good listener. I start off focusing on what someone says but then I find myself thinking about what they said at the beginning in great detail that I forget that they are still talking.. I wish I could turn off my brain, not just by sleeping. I wish there were another way. I can't even enjoy the beat to a song because I am too busy listening to the lyrics, finding the meaning and applying it to my life. I am emotional. I would love for someone to totally understand me and get me. I would love for someone to analyze me and why I do the things I do. If this is what therapists do, maybe it would be nice to get one. I wonder if I am "normal" or close to it. I don't believe in normal, that is why I quote it.
Have you ever spent the day with someone who is exactly like you, I mean down to the pin point. I have. Today I spent most of my day with my dad. I wonder if it's awkward that I find myself so much like him. Good or bad thing? You tell me. I loved spending today with him. Anything I say to him he agrees and always adds something that I agree with. I love talking with him because of how much he gets me. He used to take me everywhere when I was little and I miss going to dumb stores with him. I am kind of mad at myself for not knowing how much alike we are until now. I grew up in the same house with him for 18 years. You'd think I would have known how alike we are but then I think maybe I wasn't the same person growing up. Maybe that is why we didn't get along and butted heads so much. I have changed, a lot but I think it was for the better. I have a closer relationship with my family, I think that is important. Time isn't lost. I still have time to do more things with my family. I mean why not, life is short. Who knows how much time is left.
I came across this quote today by a guy named Steve Jobs, thought I'd share. "Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma-which is living with the results of other peoples thinking. Don't let the noise of others opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

Day 03 - My family. A post about my family.

Danny Moyes, even though D and I aren't married yet and we are doing everything backwards, one day we will get it right. I still consider him apart of my family. He is everything I am not and I think that is what makes us work together so well. He is selfless and would do anything he had to for me. He supports me in everything I do. He spoils me rotten. Soon in our future we will be married and have the life we've always dreamed of together.

Eric Correa, my dad. He is the most genuine man I have ever met. Although he may not look like it on the outside.. All my boyfriends have been "intimidated" by meeting him, on the inside he is so understanding and caring. I remember him always sacrificing his things, things that he loved so me and my sister could have something we probably didn't really need. We would always come home with new pets he bought us and made our mom mad. I always remember getting everything I wanted with him. Another thing I love about my dad is that he always can make me laugh. That is something I find rare in people. Everyone isn't funny like him. There is never a dull moment. He is always making fun of someone.

Michele Correa, my mom. She's always been the sensible one. She always made sure we had what we needed. She was a great mom. There was not a day that she didn't do my hair for me and my sis. We always had the cutest clothes and things. She spoiled us. I love that I am just like her in some ways. Especially in the way that she always wanted to be a mother. Just a mom. And even though today in life that might not be very reasonable but that is exactly what I want to be, a mom. She understands my need for that.

Cassidy Correa, my little sister. She is now 16 years old. I remember when I was 16, it's a great age to be. I hope she doesn't grow up too fast and takes the time to be a kid, because they don't last long enough. My sister and I haven't always been that close until recently. We had our bickering moments, fights, and name calling but what sister doesn't fight over clothes, or bathroom time. I wish I would have been a little nicer towards her and I am sure she feels the same way. I love her so much. Whenever we are together, we laugh. We bring up the past. We laugh about putting cake, cardboard, salt in my dad's last sip of beer. Or making fun of moms hair. We always laugh and that is something I love. I hope my sister knows how much she means to me even if we don't see each other that much anymore. I will always be there for her no matter what the future brings.

Sophie, my chihuahua. Yes, I consider my dog apart of my family. She is what made me fall in love with the chihuahua breed. I have never had a dog that cares about me as much as she has. She is like a little baby. I can hold her, carry her, dress her, feed her, talk to her, love her, buy her toys, buy her beds. She makes me so happy. She always makes sure I am okay. She knows  that I am sick and when I cry, she licks my tears and wags her tail and always makes me happy. She is a total daddy's girl. I've been told chihuahuas live a long time. I hope those moments are never cut short. I love you baby Soph.

Lucas, my chihuahua. Since I fell in love with Soph, I knew I could fall in love with another. I wanted another for Soph so she wouldn't be lonely and for me, so I can feel like I sort of saved him in a way and gave him a good home. Luke got his name from of course, Lucas Scott from One Tree Hill. I remember picking Luke out from his brothers. I saw him and D in the future doing boy things. The lady also gave me a "discount" on him, so how could I say no? He whined the whole way home. He is now 10 months old and my true baby. He is my cuddle bug. He is happiest in my shirt with his head poking out. I've learned it's true that female dogs bond with boys better and male dogs bond with girls better. He is my little baby that I think will always be my baby. I love you Lukey Duke!

I did something off my wish list today.. wear a wig

This morning my grandma, grandpa, and I drove down to Head Covers to get my wig thinned and trimmed.
My wig looks and feels so much better than before.
I wore it to Mimi's Cafe and we ate a yummy lunch.
It's been very windy and rainy today so it was kind of annoying trying to  fix my wig and make sure it looked okay.
I don't think I like it as much as my cute hats and scarves though.
I like to be comfy. My wig is itchy and uncomfortable,
but my hats are warm and comfy, that's what I like.

It's the most wonderful time of the year?

It's Christmas Eve, and although I still have a lot of shopping to do I am finding time to blog because I haven't in awhile and I miss it. These past two days I volunteered and The Salvation Army. And I have to admit that this is something I will be doing every year. I came home after the first night in such bliss I probably glowed. I talked D's ear off for the rest of the night. I was touched, sad, happy, mad, inspired.. I was every emotion you could possibly be. I was happy to go down and help out although there is something that bothers me. We had I would say about 30 volunteers all day. Which was enough but in my eyes not enough. Sometimes I think Christmas is the worst time of the year for the people who are more worried about receiving gifts then giving them. This year all I wanted was my Hope chest, I got it and that is probably the only thing I will get. And for once, I am happy. I need nothing more. I was disappointed. All the people in Utah and their were only 30 volunteers. Why weren't there more I kept asking myself. Because people don't care? This is what I think. But then I looked around at all the toys that were donated and I quickly remembered that people donated this stuff. D and I picked a little boy from the tree and bought him toys. My mom and I also but together packages for parents who have to stay in the hospital with their sick children who have cancer. I am also working on my packages for the american cancer society. I bought a bunch of wrapping paper and tape to take with me yesterday because people can't afford to even wrap their gifts. I have spent more money on people that I don't know then for myself or my own family. But I think that is the point of Christmas. Giving. I wish more people would realize this. I asked D the other night, think of one thing we absolutely need right now to live. Other than his job, we couldn't think of anything. We are perfectly stable with lots of things anyone would be happy to have. I look around my little apartment at everything and we look wealthy. Some families it's hard for them to put food on the table. They can't afford gifts for their children. It breaks my heart. Handing families those gifts for the kids, some would tear up. I remember one mom saying, I really need a coat for my son. She repeated this. When I looked in the bag there was a coat! I was so happy and so was she. She kept telling me God Bless you. She was so happy for that coat that she couldn't afford. Then there were some families who were greedy and this I hated. I handed the lady her bags for her kids. They all got scooters and lots of good things but she was unhappy because one of the kids wanted a bike.. Now lady I don't just have a bike for everyone. Do I look like Oprah? Your kid got a scooter so be thankful he even got that! Sheesh. There was a bunch of used bikes that people donated and I told her she could pick one from there but that wasn't good enough. She wanted a new one. I wanted to take all her gifts back and give them to children that would be happy to get them but I am too nice I told her she was out of luck and that I was sorry. So she left. Also I noticed people who came in and for the most part looked like they could afford their own gifts. I saw a lady wearing Ugg boots, bleach blonde hair, nails done, makeup on, nice jeans.. Like really lady. Quick getting your nails done for a year and that money will add up and you could purchase your own gifts. That made me mad. For the most part, a lot of these people were thankful and I was thankful that their were charities that did this for those kind of people. One thing I really liked about this was if one kid didn't get any toys but lots of clothes, I mean clothes are great because they probably really need that the most but what kid wants clothes for Christmas? I know I didn't. But because we had enough donations we had like our own little store so I was able to look at the age and go pick a cool toy for them. I loved being able to do that. I was known as the shopper. I just wanted every kid to be happy Christmas day. We were to the point where we were almost out of everything! And still had a line out the door. It was heartbreaking that I couldn't do anything about it. Luckily we received more donations the next day. So next year because I know what we ran out of this year I will be sure to buy things we really need. We were really good on toys and baby clothes. But what we need more of is Clothes for older children. Especially Boys! We need more boy everything, shoes, clothes, toys. We need clothes and shoes more than toys. Also more wrapping paper and tape. Diapers and wipes were a big one. Everyone make a mental note of this. (: I will be saving things throughout the year for next Christmas. I can hardly wait. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas. I've learned it's truly better to give then get!

p.s. Me, Cass, my Aunt, Grandma, Grandpa, and My grandmas neighbor are in this video (:

11.17.2010

When there's a million things taking up our time, our minds become so easily occupied. We forget about those like you, and forget about the bodies that made it through. Some days your at your best, others at your worst, and when your wearing a frown I hope you know there are dozens of us who won't let you down. When your in your bed feeling so weak, were always there watching you sleep. We'll always be at your feet for as long as you need; and cater to all your needs. This thing, it changes you and I can't imagine how hard it gets to do. We see it in you that you embrace every moment of it and look at it as learning. Just when your ready to give up, don't. Your fires still burning. In a couple years from now it will all be in the past. Over at last. You can only get better, what doesn't kill hurts... But I believe can only make you stronger, and can't get much worse. I know with every demon inside, angels are watching over you helping you try. The strength in you inspires me and everyone else around to be the best we can be. I didn't intend on my feelings to rhyme kinda like how god wouldn't put you through this if he didn't think you couldn't get past it time after time. You have faith. Never lose it, it's important to keep. Making up for those who abuse it. I know I'm not the only one who see's the hero in you, but everyone else too. And more importantly your own self. Your journey I know has just begun but it will be over soon and making the best of it helps. Just as you are doing. this thing we know of but can't understand it's name... Cannot be tamed. You make it all look so easy. Putting up with this cruel disease. That ends so many lives but at the same time handfuls survive. It's something we can't comprehend. But something I know you can overcome. This thing is real, far from pretend. I like to think there's a purpose for all this and why your life is the life it picked. Because it's important to realize how many love you, while you think it's destroying your life I know it's saving mine. It's sad that something so horrible was the only thing capable of opening my eyes. It changed my input on life, actually showed me there's light. I know it's all overwhelming. But you'll be okay.. I know this because there's every way of telling ♥
-Cassie Correa

My sister wrote this beautiful poem for me.
I am truly jealous of her talent.
Thank you Cass! I love you more than you know!

Day 15: Something or someone you couldn’t live without.

I don't want to live without my family, Danny, Sophie, and Luke.
Could I? Yes, but I choose not too. (:

I've finished A Walk to Remember, I am on to the next.. Water for Elephants. And I must say I absolutely love this book. They are making it into a movie so I wanted to read the book before it comes out. I am almost half way through. It's a little raunchy I might add but the story line is amazing (:
My next chemotherapy session is Thursday. I am not quite sure how I feel about it yet. I love going but once I start to feel good I am due for another session to put me right back where I was at the beginning, feeling not so good. Not like I have a choice or anything. It feels kinda nice getting it over with. I am excited to see everyone again. Danny was able to get off every chemo session I have so either he can take me or he can stay home and get some things done while someone else takes me. Which will be nice for him and me!
Happy Birthday Mom, Grandma, and Bailey! (: Going to Boston's for lunch. Pretty excited about it. I have been craving their food for awhile now. I need to get back into my working mode while I feel good.

9.28.2010

There's a first time for everything.

Today was my first surgery. Although I was a little nervous and scared.. I was excited at the same time. Excited to get it over with and move on to the next thing. Everything was very smooth, from what I can remember. (: I am all bandaged up. Which I like because I am not so sure I want to see where they operated. I guess tomorrow I will see how I react. I am starting to get a little more sore then I was today right after surgery but I know soon it will start to feel better. Not sure but I think my body does not like the pain medications they give me. Loratabs make me sick and Percasets aren't helping with the pain either. I took two and still nothing. Which kinda sucks. Hopefully the pain won't last too long! I have a few more tests coming this week. Xrays and what not. Pretty much I am still waiting for the news on what is going on in my body. I am hoping I know what is going on by the end of next week. I am very anxious to start my treatment.

I have the biggest support system! I love it. My mom, dad, grandma, aunt, and danny all went with me this morning really early. Almost too early. I am so not a morning person. And cute Hannah stopped by while I was in pre-op to see me. She is so cute. She is still the same Hannah that grew up right next door to me. I love and miss her. It was good seeing her. Everyone was really supportive today. I am so thankful.

Tomorrow I have nothing to do and I am excited to lay in bed all day with my babies! Just what I need to recover (:

9.25.2010

Today is a good day. I started cleaning my whole apartment (and I mean deep cleaning) I am trying to get everything done before Tuesday. So I can come home to a nice clean apartment and relax. Once I start my chemo, my immune system will be out of whack so I need a clean house, because I am more likely to be getting sick, which is the last thing I need. My cute mom, dad, and sister came over to help me clean. Then they took me to lunch (: My aunt took me shopping yesterday for lounge wear (: my favorite kinda clothes! I am so excited, I am going to be so comfy. She is so cute. She told me she wanted to take me to get some pajamas. So I was thinking like 3 pairs ya know.. Nope, I pretty much own all the pajamas they carry at Kohl's. She is so sweet. Then she took me to Olive Garden. It was so yummy. I am so thankful for my family.

I may be crazy but I am not even scared or sad anymore. I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing. I am able to talk and communicate about what is going on without getting sad or upset. I am just so ready to get this going. I am ready to get this done and over with and move on with my life. God only gives you what you can handle, and I truly believe that. I think if it has to be anyone to go through something like this. Then why not me? I am perfect for this. I am ready. I recently came across this quote, "The future you see is the future you get." I fell in love with it. It is so true. Love my quotes. Sometimes I get tired of writing in my quote book so I had a bright idea to start a blog with all my favorite quotes. I get to work tonight and I am so excited. Usually I wouldn't be. But I know once I can't, I am going to miss working and seeing everyone. I want to work as much as I can while I still feel good.

I can't thank everyone enough for all their prayers and blessings. I am truly blessed to have each and every one of you in my life. Thank you, thank you (:

thoughts..

Would it be weird to say that I knew this would happen to me? I can't say that I ever wished it would or wanted it to. But I knew. I do not know whether to be scared, happy, nervous, sad, angry, upset, confused, lost. I can't put into words what I am feeling. I am more scared then anything. I am not good with change. I am scared of the unknown. I am not sure how my body is going to react. I wish I knew the outcome of it all. I have a long journey ahead of me. I am not quite sure where this is going to take me. All I know is where I want to go. I know the things I want to do. I know where I want to be once this is all over. I need strength. I need to be positive and strong. That is the only way I will survive.. Lymphoma, you will NEVER be the death of me.

I have the most amazing family ever. I couldn't ask for anything more than the things they do for me. I am so blessed to have them by my side. I wouldn't be able to overcome this challenge without their love.

I have been blessed with this amazing life. Now it is my turn to overcome this challenge I am being faced with. I pray to God to give me the strength I need.
